Office Building Zemp

The Rothenburg-based office building features 94 workspaces with a total of seven floors and a residential unit on the fifth floor. The building’s design focuses on a future-oriented and communication supportive architectural design. The building’s sustainable highlights include its energy generation and storage system. A combined heating and cooling system via ice storage and heat pump ensures occupant comfort throughout the year. Also, collected rainwater minimizes the need of potable water, further reducing the ecological footprint. The motivation for pursuing LEED certification was to exceed the Swiss Energy Saving Ordinance and to provide a lighthouse project for sustainability in the context of small office buildings. The whole project team embraced the common target, whilst also considering cost-effectiveness.
