Project info

Size79,792 sq ft
Brama Portowa is a complex of two independent buildings featuring a total of 12,900 square meters of modern office and retail space in the centre of Szczecin. The Brama Portowa II office building achieved LEED Platinum certification for, amongst other aspects, increased ventilation performance, thermal comfort, and access to daylight. An innovative energy saving ventilation system supplies 30 percent more fresh air than in standard office buildings, while a high efficiency heat exchanger in the ventilation system reduces the energy necessary to heat or cool spaces, supported by levels of thermal insulation in the building fabric. The heat island effect which often occurs in traditional construction was eliminated in the Brama Portowa project through the use of a white membrane to cover the upper roof and a sedum roof on the lower level. Solar gain on the inside of the building is reduced through use of a thin silver film on windows on the sides of the building exposed to the sun. Furthermore, large number of openable windows ensure optimum access to daylight and fresh air.
