According to recent data from the organization E2, the state of Georgia leads the U.S. in the number of clean energy projects initiated since the passing of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA).

The IRA's many incentives are likely to have spurred the boom in Georgia, where, according to E2's Clean Economy Works project tracker, 27 projects have been announced and over $15 billion invested since the IRA's implementation. In addition, over 15,000 new jobs have been created.

Depending on what measure you use, the numbers show various U.S. states leading in various areas. According to the E2 data, Georgia has the highest number of new initiatives and jobs created, while North Carolina has made the largest capital investment, at over $19 billion. Other states ramping up their clean energy investment include Michigan, South Carolina and Texas.

Across the U.S., EV infrastructure is the clean energy technology with the largest number of projects initiated, followed by solar and battery/storage. These three technologies also represent the most jobs created.

Ranking at number five in the 2023 Top 10 States for LEED, Georgia has been demonstrating growth in climate action and clean energy for several years, as well as in green building through both new construction and ongoing operations.
